SARANGANI, Philippines, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Welterweight boxing champion Manny Pacquiao says he will file libel, slander and defamation suits against challenger Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The suits, which will include Oscar de la Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, will follow an impasse during negotiations for a March 13 Pacquiao-Mayweather title fight.
Mayweather claimed Pacquiao would not comply with Olympic style drug testing as outlined and mandated by the United States Anti Doping Agency.
"Enough is enough," Pacquiao said Friday on his Web site. "These people … think it is a joke and have a right to accuse someone wrongly of using steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs. I think they have gone overboard. I maintain and assure everyone that I have not used any form or kind of steroids."
Pacquiao added he would enlist the help of Top Rank's Bob Arum, the original promoter of the multimillion-dollar bout.

Bradley-Sparring Partner of Pacquiao
According to Phil boxing, Freddie Roach wants WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley to be one of the sparring partners for WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao to help get him ready for his March 13th fight against unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Roach said “Other than Amir Khan as Pacquiao’s main sparring partner, I like to include Timothy Bradley in my list.” It’s unknown if Bradley, a great fighter in his own right, would be interested in being reduced to that of being a sparring partner.
However, with the deep pockets of the Pacquiao team, they could probably dig up enough money to entice Bradley to come train with Pacquiao, as long as it didn’t interfere with any of Bradley’s planned fights. It’s hard to imagine Bradley, arguably the best light welterweight in the division, being below Khan, who hasn’t proven himself as of yet in the light welterweight division.
Bradley, 26, has beaten the following fighters in 2009: Kendall Holt, Nate Campbell and Lamont Peterson. And in 2008, Bradley defeated Junior Witter and Edner Cherry.
If Roach can get Bradley to help Pacquiao with training, then Manny will have a great shot at beating Mayweather come March 13th. Bradley has incredibly fast hands and is very good at fighting both on the inside and outside.

Roy Jones complained about the gauze that was used by IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green
By Sean McDaniel: In an article at Boxing Talk, Roy Jones Jr. (54-6, 40 KO’s) complained about the gauze that was used by IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green in his 1st round knockout victory over Jones on December 2nd. “I’d rather lose fair then win cheating,” Jones said about his loss to Green. In that fight, Green cornered Jones and dropped him with a looping right hand that hooked around to the side of Jones’ head.
The punch didn’t seem to hit the back of Jones’ head, however, and one reason why it landed in that location is because Jones slightly turned his head as he saw the punch coming. In hindsight, Jones would have probably been better off taking the shot to the face rather than turning his head and exposing his temple and the back of his head for Green to hit.
“I’m a fighter, pound for pound, one of the best, but you can’t hit me in the back of the head with a baseball bat and think it won’t do something to me,” said the 41-year-old Jones. Besides the punch that landed on the side or back of Jones’ head, he was also upset about the gauze on Green’s hand wraps, saying “They allowed him [Green] to wrap his hands two hours earlier and they allow3ed him to use stuff they not supposed to use. The gauze that you use isn’t supposed to have no adhesive on it, you what I mean?”
It’s hard to imagine Green using anything but the normal gauze for his wrapping. Green just looked too strong for Jones and it might have been better than the fight only lasted one round rather than drag on longer and cause Jones to take even more punishment in the fight.
“They first try to get give me a pair of used gloves,” Jones said. “I said, ‘how am I going to fight in used gloves?’ “Then they gave me new gloves and by then we saw how they was wrapping his [Green] hands and were complaining because from what we’re used to this is illegal.”
As of now, there’s no talk of a rematch between Green and Jones, but it looks like they need to consider it. Jones was going to fight Bernard Hopkins next, but the sudden shocking loss to Green has put that bout up in the air. It looks like Green will now be fighting Hopkins next instead of Jones, which obviously is something that can’t be making Jones too happy.
Jones made a tactical mistake in the Green fight by retreating to the corner and covering up. Jones had been fighting that way in the past five years and it hadn’t served him too well in his fights with Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson. However, by making the mistake against an even bigger fighter like Green, it put Jones in a vulnerable position.

Retirement of Manny Pacquiao in 2010
Retirement from the sport for Manny Pacquiao in 2010? Pacquiao is hinting that his next fight could be his last. Perhaps it is a ploy to drive more interest in what will be the TV event of the year when HBO Pay-per-view presents Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. Or maybe Pacquiao truly wants to retire and enter Politics as he has so often stated and is doing so by running in the upcoming elections in his home country, the beautiful nation of the Philippines.
In a recent article done by Abac Cordero of The Philippine Star, Cordero quotes Pacquiao from a TV show that aired very recently, in which Pacquiao tells the TV audience that his upcoming fight against Mayweather Jr. (propsed for March 13th on HBO Pay-per-View) could ultimately be his final fight and then retirement.
Well, the boxer now being considered as the greatest of his era thinks so.
Pacquiao told the TV audience in his native tongue (English translation by Abac Cordero): "Baka last fight ko na (It could be my last fight)."
The keywords for me is "could be", because personally I want to see a lot more of Pacquiao in the next coming years... but who could fault him from wanting to retire after Mayweather Jr.? Especially if Pacquiao defeats Mayweather Jr... I couldn't think of a better way to fly into retirement than on the wings of such a victory. Well folks, bottom line... March 13th could be the last live Pay-per-view you can catch on your TV featuring Pacquiao... Like we needed another reason to purchase this hot event!

An Associated Press story says the promoters and - perhaps just as telling - the head of HBO Sports are in town today to tour the stadium. The other contenders for the fight apparently are the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the Superdome in New Orleans.
There were many who were skeptical about how many non-football events would be booked at the stadium, but so far, the place has been busy. Recently, they added dates for a monster truck event and Supercross.
I have no idea though if they use the same dirt from the bull riding competition in February for the Monster Jam a week later.

Both came and went with breath-taking speed in Newcastle as Khan blitzed his mandatory challenger in just 76 seconds, courtesy of a handful of viciously meaningful blows.
The WBA light-welterweight champion had his man down with just his THIRD punch of the night, needed two more to put him down again and another to end the contest in sensational fashion.
It means Khan, who lasted just 54 seconds against Breidis Prescott, little over a year ago has now gone full circle since switching to Freddie Roach.
Even the trainer himself, so adept at calling fights, could not have envisaged what unfolded on a night when one man served devasting notice of his class, while another was simply way out of his.

Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Deal
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have signed off on the major issues in the negotiation for a megafight on March 13, and contracts could be signed in the next few days, a person with knowledge of the discussions told The Associated Press.
Top Rank promoter Bob Arum met with Pacquiao in his native Philippines on Friday and the charismatic champion agreed to terms with only minor changes, said the person, who requested anonymity because the sides agreed not to speak publicly during negotiations.
Arum planned to return to the United States on Sunday and present the amended terms to Golden Boy chief executive Richard Schaefer, the person said. Schaefer is negotiating on behalf of Mayweather and his promotional company.

Pacquiao is likely to fight Mayweather on March
Manny Pacquiao is likely to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on March 13 after agreeing to a proposal from promoter Bob Arum on Friday.
Arum presented "what he thought was the best proposal he can bring" during a two-hour breakfast meeting with Pacquiao in Manila, said Michael Koncz, an adviser of the Philippine boxing idol.
"Manny has some additional requirements, requests, which Arum didn't think was a problem," Koncz said. "The requests of Manny were so realistic that Arum doesn't feel it's a problem and it's pretty much a done deal."
He said the contract still needs "fine tuning," declining to elaborate.
"We all believe that it will be done," he said.
In an interview with GMA television, Pacquiao said, "March 13 is OK."
"The difference between Floyd and others I have fought is that Floyd makes a lot of trash talk that should not be imitated by young people," he said.
Arum could not be reached for comment.
Koncz, who is in charge of Pacquiao's boxing promotion company in Nevada, said Pacquiao is "very comfortable" with the date.
Pacquiao is running for a congressional seat in May 2010 elections and official campaigning won't start before April.
If the bout goes ahead, it will match two men regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighters.
Boxing fans have been looking forward to a super fight between Pacquiao and the undefeated Mayweather after the Filipino champion defeated Miguel Cotto last month.
The March 13 date comes four months after the Cotto fight — a shorter period of time than the six months after Pacquiao defeated Ricky Hatton. But Koncz said it will be enough time for Pacquiao to get back in shape.
"Nobody knows his body better than Manny," he said. "If Manny feels that that's plenty of time to rest and recover, then you know, he has to do what he feels is right."
He said Pacquiao "cannot train for more than seven weeks."
If the fight is made, there would likely be a Jan. 11 press conference in New York to announce it. The bout could be the richest ever, assuming pay-per-view projections are accurate.

Danny Green scored a stunning first round TKO victory over American great Roy Jones
Australian titleholder Danny Green scored a stunning first round TKO victory over American great Roy Jones to retain his International Boxing Organisation cruiserweight world title here on Wednesday.
Green put down the eight-time world champion with a well-timed right hand which sent Jones tumbling to the canvas midway through the opening round and then pummelled the American legend with a flurry of blows against the ropes.
English referee Howard Foster called a halt to the fight at 2:02 into the first round.
"I am just overwhelmed, this is all your victory, this is Australia's victory," Green screamed to the capacity home crowd.
"He's one of the greatest fighters of all time and the opportunity to fight him in Australia, thanks Roy Jones Jnr.
"I almost feel bad doing that, that almost most hurt me to do that to someone whom I aspire to look up to as a professional fighter inside and outside the ring. He's a bloody legend."
Green left Jones disorientated with his shock right hand punch which connected high on the temple area of the American, leaving him struggling to get back to his feet.
It was all downhill from there for Jones as the Australian 'Green Machine' went after the quick finish, throwing leather as the American superstar covered up under the onslaught before the referee's intervention.
"It was a great performance tonight from Danny and we won't be making excuses," Jones said in the ring.
"My hat goes off for Danny Green, he fought a wonderful fight."
It was the 36-year-old Green's first defence of the title he won with a fifth round TKO against Argentina's Julio Cesar Dominguez in Biloxi, Mississippi last August.
It was only the third time in his stellar 20-year fight career that Jones, 40, has been stopped in a fight and follows his earlier stoppages against Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson, both in 2004.
Jones was bidding to become the first boxer to win all five divisions between middleweight and heavyweight, but he was overwhelmed by Green's first-round onslaught.
Jones's record now stands at 54 wins (40 by knockout) with six losses in 60 bouts, while Green has won 28 (25 KOs) of his 31 fights since 2001.
It was first time Jones, regarded as one of the great pound-for-pound fighters of the modern era, had fought outside the United States and may signal the end of his celebrated career.
Jones is scheduled to fight American adversary Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas on March 13 next year.
Jones also holds the distinction of becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a heavyweight world title in 106 years.

Boxing Mega-Fight between Pacquiao-Mayweather Nearly Finalized
It is a boxing mega-fight between Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
According to the news, last Tuesday (December 1), Bob Arum flew to the Philippines to discuss a possible meeting between the two boxers in the near future. Mayweather has already agreed to some contractual details. However, further info was not revealed.
"I'm going over there to figure it out," Arum told The Times just before departing. "Everything."
Arum reportedly spent much of Tuesday resolving issues during negotiations with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who represents Mayweather, before taking off for the Philippines.
He is expected back on Monday (December 7).

Manny Pacquiao: Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year
No athlete accomplished more in his or her sport in 2009 than Manny Pacquiao did in boxing.
No athlete did more for his or her country in 2009 than Pacquiao did for the Philippines.
No athlete in 2009 better exemplified the ideals of sportsmanship, grace under pressure and determination than Pacquiao.
No athlete was a better choice in 2009 as Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year than Pacquiao.
Alas, the magazine’s many esteemed editors and writers on Monday awarded the honor to New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, who is one of the great players in history and a good guy on top of it.
But it was Jeter who came to see Pacquiao compete and not the other way around.
In May, Pacquiao scored a pair of stunning knockouts, stopping Ricky Hatton in the second round to become the linear super lightweight champion. He moved up again in November and knocked out Miguel Cotto in the 12th to win the World Boxing Organization welterweight title.
If you’re counting, that’s five sanctioning body championship belts and two linear championships.
As much as Jeter does for charity, can anyone with a straight face suggest he does more for his community than Pacquiao does for the Philippines, where he has become a national icon?
When typhoons struck the Philippines as Pacquiao was preparing to face Cotto, he literally thrust himself into the eye of the storm to provide aid.
No boxer has won the award since Sugar Ray Leonard in 1981 and a non-American hasn’t won since Sammy Sosa in 1998. That made Pacquiao something of a long shot. Derek Jeter was a good choice. Manny Pacquiao, though, would have been the perfect choice.

A potential Pacquiao-Mayweather bout would likely be the largest-grossing boxing match in history. Predictions for the pay-per-view sales alone have reached as high as 5 million.
Pacquiao is a top ranked in the world's best boxer with Mayweather sitting is no.2. Pacquiao, who is 50-3-2 with 38 knockouts and holds the World Boxing Organization welterweight title, has been named the Fighter of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America in 2006 and 2008 and is almost certain to win it in 2009. Las Vegas has landed the majority of the major boxing shows in recent years, interest from venues outside Las Vegas in acquiring a Mayweather-Pacquiao megafight is very high. Arum has received inquiries from many venues, including New Orleans, and Democratic political strategist James Carville has phoned Arum about trying to broker a deal to bring the fight to the Superdome in New Orleans.
One advantage Las Vegas officials will have in landing the bout is that Mayweather resides in the city and Pacquiao has fought his last six fights, and nine of his last 12, there.
“We’re aware of the interest from all over the country for this bout and our goal is simply to keep it here in Las Vegas,” said Rogich, who was once the chairman of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
“We’re just exploring the possibility of doing something [at the New Frontier site].
“We’ve reached out to the owners of the property to see if we can do something that makes economic sense. This is such a big fight and we are doing all we can to keep it in Las Vegas amid competition from many other places.”

Undefeated Lucian Bute successfully defended his IBF super-middleweight title Saturday night, stopping Librado Andrade with a left uppercut to the midsection at 2:57 of the fourth round.
The Romanian-born Bute, 25-0 with 20 knockouts, was making the fourth defense of his IBF crown and his second against Andrade, who pushed the left-hander to the limit 13 months ago, knocking down the exhausted champion with just seconds left.

Seasons Beatings' for Espino," Pavlik trainer Jack Loew said
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AFP) – Kelly Pavlik will defend his World Boxing Council middleweight title against fellow American Miguel Espino on December 19 before a host of hometown supporters, according to promoters.
Pavlik, 35-1 with 31 knockouts, beat Jermain Taylor for the crown in 2007 and will make his third title defense against Espino, 20-2 with one draw and nine knockouts.
Pavlik suffered his only defeat when he stepped up in weight 13 months ago to face US legend Bernard Hopkins and lost a unanimous decision, but bounced back to stop Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio in the ninth round here in February.
"I?m not going to allow Espino to be the Grinch who took my world title," Pavlik said.
Pavlik backed out of two fights against US southpaw Paul Williams due to staph infection in his right hand but will step into the ring only two weeks after Williams, who replaced Pavlik for a December 5 fight in Atlantic City.
"It?s going to be 'Seasons Beatings' for Espino," Pavlik trainer Jack Loew said "Nothing but lumps of coal in his stocking plus a few lumps on his head."
Espino has a four-year, 11-bout win streak, including his past four victories by knockout. His most recent fight was a sixth-round stoppage of former world champion Alejandro Garcia of Mexico in March.

A Boxer Died:after a Brutal Fight is Scheduled for Autopsy
After losing a USBA super bantamweight bout against Teon Kennedy on Friday, Francisco Rodriguez twenty five year old. Rodriguez, a former national Golden boxing champion from Chicago, is scheduled for autopsy on Tuesday.
Philadelphia’s Medical Examiner’s Office says an autopsy is routine when a death is related to the victim’s occupation.
Officials say Rodriguez began to lose consciousness as he sat in his corner after the fight was stopped in the 10th round. He later underwent emergency brain surgery.
Rodriguez was 14-2 going into the bout against Kennedy for the vacant USBA super bantamweight title. Rodriguez was a national Golden Gloves champion in 2001.

A Mexican boxer, Francisco Rodriguez, has died at age of 25 after a fight in Philadelphia, this was confirmed by the promoter named Dominic Pesoli.
As the promoter said Rodriquez was dies on Sunday night after losing a Teon Kennedy, a US Boxing Association super bantamweight title, last Friday.
Rodriguez began to lose consciousness as the Chicago boxer sat in his corner after the brutal fight was stopped in the 10th round, said by J. Russell Peltz a Philadelphia promoter.
Rodriguez was taken to hospital and underwent emergency brain surgery, but never regained consciousness.
He was 14-2 going into the bout against Kennedy for the vacant USBA super bantamweight belt.
Rodriquez was know as El Nino Azteca, he had an outstanding amateur career and was a lot of Chicago Golden Gloves champion and a national Golden Gloves champion in 2001.
He became professional in 2005 and was a local fan favourite in his adopted city.

Mikkel Kessler has vowed to bounce back stronger than ever after his 11th round technical decision defeat against Andre Ward. The Viking Warrior was trailing on all three scorecards when the fight was stopped due to a cut caused by an unintentional headbutt. “I have lost the world title once and won it straight back so I know how to do it,” Kessler said. “With the support of my home fans in Denmark I will beat Carl Froch and become world champion again. Green was an good fighter before he retired, but a lot said he is not a champion fighter even thought he briefly held the WBA light heavyweight title in 2007 after beating Stipe Drews by a 12 round decision. I actually had Drews, the champion, winning that fight by two rounds.

Pacquiao Admitted that He is Hurt with the Hook of Cotto
A regular fighter could easily crumbled in the powerful punches of Cotto, But not Manny Pacquiao.

After the fight, Pacquiao held a post-fight party concert at the Mandalay Bay. He then attended an afternoon mass the following day as sort of thanksgiving.
Along with his family, including wife Jinkee and estranged parents Rosalio and Dionisia, Pacquiao rode the customized “Pacman Bus" provided by Top Rank on the way back to Hollywood.

Pacquiao put on yet another dominating performance Saturday night, knocking down Cotto twice and turning his face into a bloody mess before finally stopping him at 55 seconds of the 12th round.
The Filipino star used his blazing speed and power from both hands to win his seventh title in seven weight classes and cement his stature as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Cotto took such a beating that his face was a river of red from the fury of Pacquiao's punches but he refused to quit even as his corner tried to throw in the towel after the 11th round.
The fight was billed as a 145-pound classic, and in the early rounds it didn't disappoint. The two went after each other with a vengeance and Cotto more than held his own as they traded punches in the center of the ring.
Pacquiao dropped Cotto with a right hand early in the third round, but he wasn't badly hurt and came back to finish the round strong. But after Pacquiao put Cotto on the canvas with a big left hand as Cotto was advancing forward late in the fourth round, the Puerto Rican was never the same again.
"Our plan was not to hurry but to take our time," Pacquiao said. "It was a hard fight tonight and I needed time to test his power."
Cotto fought gamely but in the later rounds he was just trying to survive as blood flowed down his face and Pacquiao kept coming after him relentlessly. It looked as if his corner was trying to stop the fight after the 11th round, but Cotto went back out to take even more punishment before a final flurry along the ropes prompted referee Kenny Bayless to call the fight to an end.
Cotto's face was swollen, blood was flowing from his nose and his cuts, and he simply couldn't stop Pacquiao from bouncing inside and throwing both hands at will.

Bob Arum, an american promoter predicts a brutal ending in the world welterweight bout Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.
“The reason this fight is creating so much attention is because of the fact that people who know boxing are baffled as to how this fight is going to turn out.” says Arum.
Arum though sees the fight to be stopped in the later rounds but won’t be surprised if the fight lasts the distance that is set for 12-rounds at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I know how the fight is going to start and the question is can Miguel handle Manny’s speed early on and can Manny handle Miguel’s power early on?” said Arum. “They’re gonna both be aggressive in the beginning. If that doesn’t work for either of them, then you’ll see Miguel resorting to be a counter-puncher and Manny going on the attack.”
Arum believes his latest promotion might be one of the most successful promotions he has ever staged owing to the marketability of both Cotto and Pacquiao.
“What boxing always needs is a charismatic figure that people want to see and an opponent who can give him very tough battle,” said Arum “We have Manny Pacquiao as the charismatic figure in boxing and Miguel Cotto as a tremendously powerful welterweight that stands in his way. That captures everyone’s imagination.”
Meantime, Pacquiao on Tuesday concluded his training at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood with a four-round sparring opposite Ray Beltran.
“He’s sharper than before and I don’t see him losing this bout,” said Beltran.

The diminutive Pacquiao, boxing's acknowledged pound-for-pound king, will move north in weight once again to fight Cotto, the current WBO welterweight champ, at an agreed-upon catch-weight of 145 pounds.

Those questions still haunt Cotto's career more than a year later. HBO commentator Max Kellerman agrees that the verdict is still out on Cotto. He sees the fighter's best blueprint for beating Pacquiao in Cotto's victory over Shane Mosley in December 2007, but wonders whether Cotto has that kind of fight left in him. "The dominant question here is whether Cotto can handle Pacquiao's speed," Kellerman says. "And the good news for Cotto is that his timing was able to offset Mosley's speed, and Mosley's lightning fast. But is this the same Cotto who beat Mosley? He cuts more easily now, and he doesn't seem as quick as he once did. And in Pacquiao, he's going to have to offset a guy who at this moment is faster than Shane, and who's a southpaw, and who has just shown us that he can really punch, even at these higher weights."
There's no doubt that Pacquiao presents a frightening package to any opponent right now, but he's not without question marks himself, particularly when faced with a proven heavy-handed puncher of Cotto's size and caliber. "The question for Manny is, 'Can he take a shot from a guy who has more than respectable power as a welterweight?'" Fischer says. "Because I think Cotto has the ability to catch Pacquiao and hurt him."
"Pacquiao has looked great in his last three fights," says RingTV.com's Doug Fischer, "but he's also fought the perfect opponents, the perfect guys to make him look like a million bucks."
Of course, whether Pacquiao could handle the power of naturally bigger men has been the primary subplot heading into his three most recent fights, and each time he answered with a resounding "yes" and with increasingly spectacular emphasis. Last June, in his first fight above 130 pounds, he dominated then-WBC lightweight champ David Diaz. Six months later, he moved all the way up to 147 pounds and destroyed Oscar De La Hoya in an explosive performance that catapulted him to superstardom. Then in May, he followed up his De La Hoya masterpiece with a crushing second-round knockout of junior welterweight champ, Ricky Hatton.
It was an astonishing trio of victories that, taken as a whole, would seem to pose quite a convincing response to any doubts about Pacquiao's ability to cope with the size and pop of just about anyone. Still, doubts linger.
The Cotto fight should put those doubts to rest one way or the other. "If Cotto still has it, Pacquiao is going to be in there against a natural welterweight in his physical prime with a lot of pride," Kellerman says. And then we'll find things out."

Pacquiao Fans Overlooked Cotto
Do Miguel Cotto is being Overlooked as the what news are spreading today? Go back to the past, Manny Pacquiao beat Ricky Hatton, and he dropped him through his devastating left hand, and I think that move really still lingers on the mind of the fans. And the question right now, that move really still lingers on the mind of every fans while the same can be said of the beating Miguel Cotto suffered at the hands of Antonio Margarito. It must be remembered, however, that the devastating left and the brutal beating are both part of the past. Manny Pacquiao is not going to dominate all his opponents in the same fashion and Miguel Cotto will not suffer such a harsh beating every time he enters the ring.
Let’s not forget Cotto's heart, something I believe is being overlooked by many of the Pacquiao fans. As the past fight of Cotto with Antonio Margarito, it was punishment that built up over round until it was to much to bear. Miguel Cotto also showed the same heart against Joshua Clottey early this year. Cotto suffered a nasty cut above his left eye due to a clash of heads. Rather then take the easy way out, which we’ve seen many fighters do as of late and let the fight go to the scorecards, Cotto kept fighting and showed the heart of a true warrior.
Manny Pacquiao is a special fighter who possesses great power and hand speed, but I also believe this is the perfect time for Miguel Cotto to stage an upset. The speed advantage clearly goes to Pacquiao but don’t sell Cotto short on his punching power. He too possesses the power to stop any opponent in front of him. Along with his relentless body attack and his heart which I already touched on, Miguel Cotto has exactly what it takes to beat Manny.
Too many of you can’t let go of the image of Miguel Cotto in his fight with Antonio Margarito. It’s burned into your memory and because of that you have no doubt in your mind Manny Pacquiao will do the same thing, only much quicker. Right now is the perfect time for Manny Pacquiao to slip up and believe me, Miguel Cotto will be more than ready. He has much to prove and the Pacquiao fight is the perfect time to once again show the boxing world that he belongs on top.

Who is Cotto?
Miguel Ángel Cotto (born October 29, 1980 in Caguas, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer. As an amateur, Cotto represented Puerto Rico in the lightweight and light welterweight divisions at various international events including the 1999 Pan American Games, the 2000 Summer Olympics and the 1998 Junior World Championships where he won a silver medal. Cotto began his professional career in 2001, and on September 11, 2004, he defeated Kelson Pinto for the WBO junior welterweight championship. He defended the title successfully a total of six times, before vacating it when he ascended to the welterweight division. On his first match on this division he defeated Carlos Quintana for the vacant WBA welterweight championship. Cotto successfully defended this title against Oktay Urkal, Zab Judah, Shane Mosley and Alfonso Gómez, before losing it to Antonio Margarito. On February 21, 2009, he defeated Michael Jennings to win the vacant WBO welterweight championship. Cotto was born and raised in Caguas, with several figures linked to boxing in his family, including his father Miguel Cotto Sr., his brother José Miguel Cotto, his second cousin Abner Cotto and his uncle and boxing trainer Evangelista Cotto. Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao born December 17, 1978, more commonly known as Manny Pacquiao, is a Filipino professional boxer. He is the former WBC lightweight world champion, WBC super featherweight world champion, IBF super bantamweight world champion, and WBC flyweight world champion. He is currently the IBO and Ring Magazine light welterweight champion, and is rated by Ring Magazine as the #1 pound-for-pound boxer in the world. He has also held the Ring Magazine titles for featherweight and super featherweight divisions. For his achievements, Pacquiao became the first Filipino and Asian boxer to win five world titles in five different weight divisions.
